It was wintertime so we didn’t use the outdoor pool, but I suspect it is fun. Bar has a sufficient choice for everyone. Both breakfast and lunch menus and food were good, healthy options. Let’s start with the pros: Clean, modern, great fitness center (this is atop an athletic club). I rate this hotel as a three star but know that it has very good parts and not so good. He was incredibly kind and made sure my experience was perfect. I had spoken with Adam, the assistant property manager, via email prior to my arrival. You can easily walk, as I did, to Michigan Avenue and River North restaurants and bars. The property is one block from the Orange line (Midway airport) and about 3 or 4 blocks from Ogilvie station. They open at 5:30 a.m., even on Sundays, so I couldn't ask for more! I didn't get the chance to have a cocktail at the lobby bar but it looked lovely. There is a Starbucks on the ground floor of the building that houses the Hotel Allegro. The hotel elevators are remarkably fast (maybe the fastest I've ever experienced?) and the bellman are very friendly. I was surprised to see the hotel offered robes and slippers since the evening rate was so affordable. The room featured an iron, a mini fridgerator, multiple charging stations, a television, and a desk. My room was *perfect.* It was surprisingly spacious for the price and aesthetic. I arrived at my 11th-floor room around 7:30 p.m. My 2022 experience outshines my 2019 visit. I booked it again because it was a great value and the perfect location for my business trip to the city. I last stayed at the Hotel Allegro in 2019 and I thought it was fine. I've since realized that those reviewers are probably not accustomed to staying in a city boutique hotel. I admit I was somewhat nervous about booking the Hotel Allegro because some reviews were so negative. The hotel and room itself were very clean and seemed pretty modern given the age of the building. Now, all was not lost on the issues we had. To anyone reading this - if you don't like a firm bed, look for another hotel! I would liken the comfort level of the bed to throwing a blanket on the floor and sleeping there. Speaking of the bed.this brings me to the 2nd issue we had with our room. We left the windows open while we went out to explore the city and the room felt a little better when we returned, but it was not comfortable for us to sleep because of noise, temperature, and the bed. We did this, but even on the 11th floor, the amount of noise we could hear from outside was ridiculous. I called the front desk and they confirmed that the hotel is all on one heating/cooling system with no thermostats in the rooms. There was a wall fan (like many hotels have) in there and it was turned on but did absolutely nothing to change the feel in the room. Our room was hot and stuffy when we arrived. I had high hopes for this hotel because of the location and a few of the ratings I read before booking.but our experience was not at all what I expected.įirst, the hotel doesn't have thermostats in each room.
